Kerala's flood-hit massive destruction has killed 324 people over the last nine days and more than 2 lakh people have been displaced, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said, issuing a fresh rain alert for the battered state. The state, battling floods and landslides, plunged deeper into crisis yesterday, with hospitals facing shortage of oxygen and fuel stations running dry.

Rescue efforts have been progressing on a war footing and Mr Vijayan said he has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived here yesterday. Today, PM Modi along with Mr Vijayan will make an aerial survey of the worst affected districts.

"Our latest update is that 319 people died," said Indonesia's chief security minister Wiranto, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, adding that rescue efforts were ongoing and complicated by aftershocks. The UK high court further ordered to pay costs towards registration of the worldwide freezing order and of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) of Karnataka’s judgment in Britain. The consortium of 13 Indian banks which have been entitled to recover their dues from Mallya are, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Corporation Bank, Federal Bank Ltd, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of Mysore, UCO Bank, United Bank of India and JM Financial Asset Reconstruction Co.
